A Tale of Attempted Seduction - The Story of Zulekha & Prophet Yusuf aliyhis salam

A Tale of Attempted Seduction - The Story of Zulekha & Prophet Yusuf aliyhis salam It was an amazing tale of attempted seduction. Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) lived for years in the house of Zulekha, a woman of beauty, power and influence. Day in and day out, Zulekha was exposed to his physical allure, a composition so stunning that the Messenger Muhammad [peace be upon him and his family] said "Yusuf has been given half of all beauty" [Muslim]. Zulekha suppressed her desire for Yusuf aliyhis salam until she could no longer control it. She waited until her husband left the home. Alone with Yusuf (Aliyhis salam) she locked the doors and called him to fulfill her lust. Imam Muhammad Al Qurtubi, the great Quranic commentator, recounts the story: [After locking the doors] Zulekha attempts to seduce Yusuf A.S. She beautifies herself in the most attractive of ways and says:“Oh Yusuf! You have the most handsome of faces.” Yusuf A.S sensing what Zulekha is attempting to do, replies, “This is how my Lord fashioned me in the womb.”“Oh Yusuf!" she says, “You have the finest of hair!” "It will be the first portion of me to wither in my grave," he replies. Undeterred, Zulekha presses on. “Oh Yusuf! Your eyes are so beautiful.” “I use them to look at my Lord,” he retorts.“Yusuf, raise your sight and gaze at my face,” she responds. “I fear [if I do so] that I will be resurrected blind in the afterlife,” Yusuf A.S answers. She tries to press herself close to Yusuf A.S but he moves away. “I come close to you, yet you distance yourself from me?” she asks. “I desire, by that, the closeness of my Lord,” he says.“ Yusuf, I have prepared my bed for you so enter under its sheets with me,” she says. Yusuf A.S replies, “Your sheets will not shield me from my Lord.” “Yusuf, I have prepared the finest of silk covers, so I order you to fulfill my desires!” she exclaims. “If I do so,” he says, “My portion of paradise will be lost.” Her attempt to seduce him was fruitless, and his desire to remind her of Allah was falling on a deaf heart. Allah recounts the story Himself:َنيِصَلْخُمْلااَنِداَبِع ْنِم ُ هَّنِإَءاَشْحَفْلاَو َءوُّسلا ُهْنَع َفِرْصَنِلَكِلَذَك ِهِّبَر َناَهْرُب ىَأَر ْنَأاَلْوَل اَهِبَّمَهَو ِهِب ْتَّمَه ْدَقَلَوAnd she certainly determined [to seduce] him, and he would have inclined to her had he not seen the proof of his Lord. And thus [it was] that We should avert from him evil and immorality. Indeed, he was of Our chosen servants. [ 12:24] Yusuf aliyhis salam was a prophet of Allah who was in control of his desires. Zulekha, like you and I, was not. She allowed her desires to overcome her love for Allah. She found herself to be living with the object of her want, Yusuf A.S. Zulekha eventually diagnoses the root cause of her disease when she says:ٌميِحَرٌروُفَغ يِّبَر َّنِإ يِّبَر َمِحَراَم اَّلِإِءوُّسلاِب ٌةَراَّمَأَل َسْفَّنلا َّنِإ يِسْفَن ُئِّرَبُأاَمَوYet I claim not that my soul [nafs] was innocent -- surely the soul of man incites to evil -- except inasmuch as my Lord had mercy; truly my Lord is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.' {12:53} Her Nafs. Our Nafs. A beast inside each and every one of us that we must tame. An unbridled nafs will lead us to prefer all carnal desires over the love of what Allah and His Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) call us to. Doing so will cause us ruin in this world, and in the next. Yet a nafs that has been tamed will learn to prefer Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him and his family) over all else, causing happiness in this world and in the next, as Allah tells us:اَهاَّسَد ْنَمَباَخ ْدَقَو )(اَهاَّكَزْنَم َحَلْفَأ ْدَق )( اَهاَوْقَتَواَهَروُجُفاَهَمَهْلَأَف )( اَهاَّوَساَمَو ٍسْفَنَوBy the soul, and That which shaped it. and inspired it to lewdness and Godfearing! Prosperous is he who purifies it, and failed has he who seduces it.-- When confronted with an alluring situation like passing by the opposite sex on the street, office or school, Shaitaan is constantly tempting us to glare at her/him with evil thoughts. Shaitaan is probably excitedly saying, with a big smile, 'Yes, yes, yes!' when we steer into the bait he is setting. During these situations, we should immediately and consciously realize that when we give a second or following glance we are obeying Satan. "O you who believe, follow not the footsteps of the devil" {24:21}. By immediately averting our gazes and disobeying Shaitaan, we are giving him a "one-two" punch in the face 👊 :) leaving him frustrated and accursed. Shaitaan rebelled and was expelled by Allah, so let's all rebel against Shaitaan and expel him from our hearts.. In sha Allah. Shaitaan intends to fight a war against Muslims, so let's gather our forces behind the Qur'an and the Sunnah and defeat him. Remember that even if no human eye is watching us, the Ever-Watchful Allah is constantly monitoring the innermost regions of our hearts. Our eyes, limbs, tongue and private parts will be witnesses on the Day of Ressurection and not an atom's worth of deeds will remain unexamined. Our minds are conditioned to associate thoughts of stealing clothes from a store to being in handcuffs and hauled into a police van. Likewise, we should condition our minds to bring the verses of Surah An-Nur in front of our eyes during any tempting situations and imagine that Allah is speaking to us directly:"Say to the believing, men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty. O you believers! Turn you all together towards Allah that you may attain success" (24:30-31) The Messengers of Allah [Peace and blessings be upon them] taught us the cognizance of our souls, and gave us the tools to control our caprice, while reminding us that success can only come by the mercy of Allah [May He be glorified]. The story of Yusuf aliyhis salam and Zulekha explores the nature of desire, temptation, and envy that occupies space in all of our souls and leads many of us astray. [Big B]

Ibadat (Worship) is the reason behind man’s existence

Righteousness is a must in transactions: Transactional worship implies being honest. It is treachery to say something to a brother of yours, trying to make him believe it is true while in fact it is a lie. A believer never lies. It was narrated by Abu Umama that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: The believer is naturally exposed to all traits except betrayal and lying. [Ahmad] You should be truthful, and being truthful is not a grey but a black and white concept, as much as that of gold and soil (being entirely unlike), or that of one dollar and a billion dollars (being thoroughly different). The believer is honest, straight, and spotless; he doesn't violate other people's integrity, always lowers his gaze; he is compassionate, fair to others, and humble. The belief is a set of rules of good conduct: “I have been sent by Allah (SWT) to be an educator, I have been sent to perfect noble conduct”. Believing is giving not taking, so the right way is to give not to take. A book was written once about the Prophet and the author wrote there: "To him who came to this life to give not to take, consecrate the whole existence, take care of man's cause, cultivate the ascendancy of reason, and alleviate the herd instinct. To him whose excellence, nominated him to be the best of all people, so he was singular among the others. To him whose clemency was his core, fairness was his law, compassion was his nature, and solving people's problems was his worship." The reality of transactional ibadat is to be righteous, honest, faithful, virtous, fair, humble, patient, and compassionate, “I have been sent by Allah to perfect noble conduct.” Faith is behaviour, so it follows that he who excels in behaviour, excels in faith. To be continued... In Sha Allah May Allah Bless us and guide us in all our affairs Aameen

Allah say in Quran " Inform my servant that I'm the forgiving and Merciful"

Sometimes we think our sins are as high as like the sky how could Allah forgive us!! it shows the lack of Imaan, Shaitaan (Devil) is whispering He wants to Win, Never give Shaitaan (Devil) the opportunity to win, Remember Allah is the Most Merciful & Kind, Allah forgives all the sins no matter if it is deep as the ocean, so Repent to Allah seek forgiveness, Surely Allah forgive those who repent, In Sha Allah

“And follow up a bad deed with a good deed and it will wipe it out.”

The Prophet said: “And follow up a bad deed with a good deed and it will wipe it out.” This part of the hadith illustrates that even those with taqwa, or fear of Allah (swt) may still slip and make mistakes. No one is perfect, but those who are from the mutaqeen or people of taqwa, do not persist in their sins. When they remember Allah (swt) they immediately perform a good deed to outweigh the negative effects of a bad one. Allah (swt) speaks of these people in the Qur’an: “And be quick in the race for forgiveness from Your Lord and for Paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the mutaqeen, Those who spend [for Allah’s cause] in prosperity and in adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men. Verily, Allah loves the doers of good. And for those who, when they have committed some evil or wronged themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins – and who can forgive sins except Allah – and who do not persist in what [wrong] they have done, while they know. For such, the reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens with rivers flowing amidst them, wherein they shall abide forever. How excellent is this reward for the doers [of taqwa].” (Q. 3:133-136). SubhanAllah, may Allah make us of the muttaqeen, Aameen.

Surah KAHF has Four stories in it.

1) The People Of The Cave Its the story of young men who lived in a disbelieving town, so they decided to migrate for the sake of ALLAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALAH) and run away. ALLAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALAH) rewards them with mercy in the cave and protection from the sun. They woke up (over 300 years later) and found the entire village believers. MORAL:TRIAL OF FAITH. 2) The Owner Of Two Gardens A story of a man whom ALLAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALAH) blessed with two beautiful gardens, but the man forgot to thank the ONE who blessed him with everything and he even dared to doubt ALLAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALAH) regarding the afterlife. So his garden was destroyed - he regretted ,but was too late and his regret did not benefit him. MORAL:TRIAL OF WEALTH. 3) Musa(ALAYHIS SALAAM) and Khidr(ALAYHIS SALAAM) When Musa(ALAYHIS SALAAM) was asked-“Who’s the most knowledgeable of the people of earth?” Musa(ALAYHIS SALAAM) said: "Me"...,but ALLAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALAH) revealed to him that there’s someone who Knows more than him. Musa(ALAYHIS SALAAM) traveled to the man and learnt how the Divine Wisdom can sometimes be hidden in matters which we perceive as bad. MORAL:TRIAL OF KNOWLEDGE. 4) Dhul-Qarnayn Its a story of the great King that was given knowledge and power and was going around the world, helping people and spreading all that's good. He was able to overcome the problem of Yajooj-Majooj and build a massive dam with the help of people whom he could not even understand.

My Brothers and Sisters, Witr Prayer is one of the greatest acts of worship that draws one closer to Allah.

My respectable brothers and sisters in Islam, Ishaa prayer is fast approaching, so let get ourselves prepare with joy, cleanliness and humility to prostrate ourselves for Almighty Allah. In Islam, after performing the obligatory deeds, one of the best ways of drawing closer to Allah is by performing voluntary good deeds. So therefore (after) performing Ishaa prayer, one can perform 2 sunnah rakats, and (before) Ishaa (there is no) Sunnah Prayer to be performed for Ishaa.   My Brothers and Sisters, Witr Prayer is one of the greatest acts of worship that draws one closer to Allah.   It can be performed by praying 1 rakat only, 3 rakats continuously (with one Tashahud and Salam on the last Rakat) or 2 rakats and after Salam you pray 1 rakat on it own and say Salam.   Witr prayer is a confirmed sunnah (Sunnah Mu'akkadah) which the Muslim should observe regularly and not neglect. Imam Ahmad (May Allah have mercy on him) said: "whoever neglects Witr is a bad man whose testimony should not be accepted. This indicates that Witr prayer is something that is confirmed May Allah help us to perform our Salaah well.

Emulating the attributes of Allah. Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem. If a person loves an attribute of Allah, then this will help him to reach Him. Allah is as-Sabur, THE PATIENT, and there is none that is more patient and forbearing than Him. It was reported that Allah revealed to Daawuud (Alaihi salaam), “ Have my attributes, as one of My attributes is that I am Sabur (patient).” Allah loves His attributes and characteristics, and He loves to see the effects of His attributes on His slaves. As He is beautiful, so He loves beauty; as He is all-forgiving, He loves forgiveness; as He is generous, He loves generosity; as He is all-knowing, HE loves people of knowledge; as He is strong and powerful, so a strong believer is more beloved to Him than a weaker one; as He is Sabur (patient), so he loves those who have patience; as He is shakur (grateful), so He loves those who give thanks. As He loves those who have His characteristics, so He is with them, and this is a special and unique type of companionship. Sickness is evil but if we remain patient it is something good because our sins are being wiped. Abu Huraira related that the Prophet (Pbuh) said, ‘for any trouble, illness, worry, grief hurt, or sorrow which afflicts a Muslim, even the prick of a thorn, Allah removes in its stead some of his (minor) sins”(Bukhari, Muslim) So if this person remains patient then its something good but if he is not patient then it becomes evil. So therefore (before) performing Asr prayer, one can perform 4 sunnah rakats (seperately).    However, this does not add up to the 12 main Sunnah prayers (which in arabic is called Rawatib) as the Prophet (pbuh) mentioned in a hadith, "Whoever prays optionally twelve rakats every one day and night, Allah will reward him by an established dwelling in the paradise" (Rep by Bukhari).   So one can leave the Sunnah prayers of Asr or prays it if one wants more rewards. But (after) Asr (there is definitely no) Sunnah Prayer to be performed for Asr. HOW PATIENCE CAN WE BE?

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem. Let's continue from the first Reminder. 1. Patience for the sake of Allah, hoping for His rewards and fearing His punishment. 2. Patience by the help of Allah, as man realizes that he has no patience himself, and has no power to acquire patience. Rather, he knows: “there is no power and no strength except by (the help of) Allah.” 3. Patience in accepting the decree of Allah, as man realizes that Allah is the only one Who is controlling the affairs of the universe, so he will patiently accept the ruling and decree of Allah, regardless of what it may mean for him in the way of ease or hardship. Patience is a half of eeman. Eeman is in two halves: half is patience (sabr) and half is gratitude (shukr). Therefore Allah has mentioned patience and gratitude alongside one another: “... Verily in this are signs for all who constantly persevere and give thanks” (Ibrahim 14: 5; Luqman 31:31; Saba 34: 19; ash-Shura 42: 33). The reasons why one half of eeman is patience and the other half is gratitude are as follows: Eeman is a term which covers words, deeds and intentions, all of which are based on one of two things, action or abstinence. Action refers to performing a deed in accordance with the instructions of Allah, which is the reality of gratitude. Abstinence, as in refraining from wrong action, requires patience. The whole of religion is embodied in these two things: carrying out that which Allah has commanded, and refraining from that which Allah has prohibited. Eeman is based on two pillars, yaqin (conviction) and patience, which are referred to in the following ayah: “And ALLAH appointed, from among them, leaders, giving guidance under Allah's command, so long as they persevered with patience and continued to have faith in Allah's Signs” (As-Sajdah 32: 24). It is through faith that we know the reality of Allah’s commands and prohibitions, of reward and punishment, and it is through patience that we carry out His instructions and abstain from that which He has prohibited. Man is constantly being pulled in two opposing directions: should he respond to the lure of this world of desires and pleasures, or should he answer the call of Allah and the hereafter, with the eternal Paradise that Allah has prepared for His friend (Wali)? Going against the call of whims and desires is patience, and responding to the call of Allah and the hereafter is gratitude. Alhamdulillah. To be continued in Shaa Allah. May Allah aid us to apply to our ways of life as we learn along. Aameen.

Belief in al-qadar is based on four things

1. Knowledge, i.e., that Allaah knows what His creation will do, by virtue of His eternal knowledge. 2. Writing, i.e., that Allaah has written the destiny of all creatures in al-Lawh al-Mahfooz. 3. Will, i.e., that what Allaah wills happens and what He does not will does not happen. There is no movement in the heavens or on earth but it happens by His will. 4. Creation and formation, i.e., that Allaah is the Creator of all things, including the actions of His slaves. They do their actions in a real sense, and He is the Creator of them and of their actions. Whoever believes in these four believes in al-qadar which is compulsory to believe in as a Muslim. The Qur’aan affirms these things in numerous verses, such as the verses in which He says; “And with Him are the keys of the Ghayb (all that is hidden), none knows them but He. And He knows whatever there is in the land and in the sea; not a leaf falls, but He knows it. There is not a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry, but is written in a Clear Record”[al-An’aam 6:59] “No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves but it is inscribed in the Book of Decrees (Al‑Lawh Al‑Mahfooz) before We bring it into existence. Verily, that is easy for Allaah”[al-Hadeed 57:22]. “And you cannot will unless (it be) that Allaah wills the Lord of the ‘Aalameen (mankind, jinn and all that exists)” [al-Takweer 81:29]. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said, explaining the view of Ahl al-Sunnah with regard to man’s deeds: People act in a real sense, and Allaah is the Creator of their actions. A person may be a believer or a kaafir, righteous or immoral, he may pray and fast. People have control over their actions, and they have their own will, and Allaah is the Creator of their control and will. Marriage is one of the things that Allaah has decreed. The person whom you will marry is known to Allaah: He knows who he is, when he was born, where and when he will die, how he will be towards you, and other details. All of that is known to Allaah and He has written it in al-Lawh al-Mahfooz (the Book of Decrees), and it will inevitably come to pass as Allaah has decreed. If Allaah has decreed that you will marry one person, but you choose someone else, then no matter how long it takes, you will marry that person. But your marriage to someone else is also decreed, because there is nothing that is not decreed by Allaah. It may be decreed for a woman to marry So and so the son of So and so, and he comes to propose marriage but she refuses him, and marries someone else, then he (the second man) dies or divorces her, then she accepts the first one. All of that is decreed, and it is decreed for her to marry So and so the son of So and so after initially refusing him and after some experience or trials etc. It may be decreed for a woman that a righteous man will propose marriage to her, but she will refuse him and he will never come back to her, and she will marry and live with someone else who is more or less righteous, according what Allaah has decreed. Because man does not know what is decreed for him, what he must do is to adhere to sharee’ah and abide by its commands and prohibitions, and to seek the help of Allaah and pray to Him for guidance (istikhaarah) concerning all his affairs, whilst implementing the means, one of the most important of which is consulting sincere people who have relevant experience. If a righteous man proposes marriage to a woman, she should pray to Allaah for guidance (istikhaarah) and agree to marry him. If things then go smoothly, this is an indication that what is good for her is to marry him. In conclusion, man should study the sharee’ah of Allaah and follow the commands of Allaah even if he or she feels reluctant, and avoid what Allaah has forbidden even if he is attached to it. All goodness is to be found in obeying sharee’ah. We should not look at al-qadar as an excuse to ignore commands and do forbidden things, rather we should look at it in a way that will make us content with whatever painful experiences happen to us. Allah knows best. May Allah keep guiding us all and accept our little efforts. Aameen.

The Qur’aan affirms these things in numerous verses, such as the verses in which He says;
“And with Him are the keys of the Ghayb (all that is hidden), none knows them but He. And He knows whatever there is in the land and in the sea; not a leaf falls, but He knows it. There is not a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry, but is written in a Clear Record”[al-An’aam 6:59]

“No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves but it is inscribed in the Book of Decrees (Al‑Lawh Al‑Mahfooz) before We bring it into existence. Verily, that is easy for Allaah”[al-Hadeed 57:22].

“And you cannot will unless (it be) that Allaah wills the Lord of the ‘Aalameen (mankind, jinn and all that exists)”
[al-Takweer 81:29].
